Teaching Contents:
    The first period of Unit3 (Can you sing?) from Friends with English , Book 1.
Teaching Goals:
    1. Through involving the students into the activities of listening, speaking and reading, let them grasp the words and sentence patterns unconsciously.
    2. Being soaked in the recreated situations, as well as the games, the students’ competence of communication should be improved gently and smoothly.
Teaching key points:
1.     Target: Can you read? Yes, I can. What about you?
         No, I can’t. But I can fly.
2.     Vocabulary: fly, read, sing, draw, swim, cook.
Teaching difficult points:
    1. The students use the sentences flexibly.
    2. The pronunciations of the words “can” and “can’t”.
Teaching aids:
    Flashcards, CAI, multimedia,tape, recorder.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Revision
e.g.  T: Hello, I’m Sunny.  What’s your name?
     S: Hello, I’m …
     T: Nice to meet you.
    S: Nice to meet you too.
Step 2 Presentation
1.     Sing a song  <>.
2.     e.g. T: Can you sing?
     T&S: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
3.       Learn the new word “sing,can and can’t ”.(Pay attention to the pronunciation of can/can’t.
4.Using the sentences “ What’s this? It’s …” to present the word “cook, fly,but” and sentence “What about you?”.
a) e.g. T: What’s this?
   S: It’s a book.
   T: I can cook. (book/cook)
   T: Can you cook?
   S: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
   T: What about you? (Learn the word “about” and explain the Chinese meaning.
b) Pair work:
e.g. A: Can you …?
   B: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t. What about you?
   A: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
   c) 知识扩展
   T: Can you …?
   S: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
   T: Can he/she …?
   S: Yes, he/she can. / No, he/she can’t.
   T: Can Gogo cook?
   S: No, he can’t.
   T: But he can fly. (引出but)
   5. Activity1: Loudly and quietly.
